Word Of The Year

Word Of The Year

Hey Ya’ll! Welcome back!

As I kick off this blogging journey with you, I wanted to highlight the theme and year-long process that God is leading me to share with you. Since 2019, God has given me a “word of the year” to focus on. This single word has become a new way God has revealed Himself to me based on lessons of character development, spiritual growth and a renewed perspective that God is requiring of me. For example, in 2019, the first word was “Fearless”. In that year, my life changed drastically and I found myself struggling with clinical anxiety for the first time of my life based on loss and trauma I experienced that year. Yet, God had called me “Fearless.” Whew!!! Huge sigh. Sometimes when I think about all the things I’ve been through, I have to take a slow and centering breath.  I have to pause for gratitude as I recount how God has been so faithful.

There have been many other words I’ve received since then, “Confident”, “Renewed”, “Focus”, “Fit”, “Hopeful”, and  “Anchored”. Now to 2026, God gave me “REST.”  So for the remainder of this year, I’ll be sharing some lessons and struggles I’ve had in pursuing resting and abiding in God through the challenges of this year. As always, I’m praying that you find yourself in my story and that God reveals how you can trust Him more and gain a deeper understanding of who He is in your life. I do ask for grace, because as The Holy Spirit leads, there might be slight detours. I do not assume that I’ll always write with themes or series in mind. However, this is where we’ll start. This expressed word of the year is a live unpacking process because I’m learning as I share with you.

The blogs will typically flow with a Scripture reference and explore what God is speaking to me through that Word and how He’s revealing more of Himself to me in my current circumstance. I hope to provide you with tangible and practical exercises to apply the Scripture to your life so God can continue to reveal more of Himself to you too! After all, that’s what it’s all about becoming more like Jesus. I’ll also detail any references and resources used, and suggested for further Biblical study.

I’m learning that rest is not just the cessation of activity or responsibility, but rather an intentional and active pursuit to abide in God’s strength for everything.

I’ve found the most awe and revelation have resulted when I learned more about who God is, what He sees in me, and the depth of His Love and Pursuit of me. So join me, as we seek out the rest that God so desires to invite us into!
